Since March 15, 2016 all non-citizens require a Visa or Electronic Travel Authority to enter Canada.
An eTA is an electronically stored authority for travel to Canada. All visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an eTA to fly to or transit through Canada.
You can enter Canada as many times as you want for the duration of 5 years from the date your eTA is granted, or until the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.
Foreign nationals from the following countries needs an eTA before boarding their flight to Canada as of March 15, 2016:

If you have already submitted an online application and wish to verify/check your eTA application status, you can submit this form indicating you name, passport number, emails and transaction id
To apply for an eTA, you must have your passport, email address and a credit card to complete the online application.
The details you provide in your online eTA application need to be exactly the same as they appear in your passport and you must use the same passport that is linked to your online eTA application when you travel.
In your application you need to provide the biographic information such as your name, date and place of birth, gender, marital status, address, nationality and passport number. You also need to answer a few simple background questions to determine if you can come to Canada. For example, you will be asked about your current job and how much money you have available for your visit to Canada, and if you have any medical issues.
